Unicore Introduces UM981 Series All-Constellation Multi-Frequency High-Precision RTK/INS Integrated Positioning Modules

Unicore recently announced the launch of UM981 series all-constellation, multi-frequency, RTK/INS integrated high-precision positioning module. Combining GNSS and INS navigation technologies, it provides a new option for precision agriculture, and surveying and mapping.

The UM981 series supports all major navigation systems and frequencies, and can simultaneously track signals from multiple systems, including BDS B1I/B2I/B3I/B1C/B2a/B2b, GPS L1/L2/L5, GLONASS G1/G2/G3, Galileo E1/E5a/E5b/E6, QZSS L1/L2/L5/L6[1], NavIC L5, and SBAS. Additionally, the module series supports open PPP (Precise Point Positioning) services, including BDS-3 PPP-B2b, Galileo E6 HAS and QZSS L6 MADOCA-PPP[2], achieving 10 cm positioning accuracy with a convergence time of less than 10 minutes. The capabilities significantly enhance the module's data availability in severely obstructed environments.

The UM981 series can simultaneously process high-frequency GNSS and IMU data streams, offering robust data output capabilities. Key features include:

·        RTCM data transmission at up to 20 Hz,

·        Single-point positioning and RTK at up to 50 Hz,

·        Integrated navigation data and IMU raw data at up to 100 Hz.

These capabilities make the UM981 series ideal to meet the demands of high-dynamic scenarios.

 

UM981 for Precision Agriculture

In precision agriculture field, UM981 simplifies machinery auto-steering system by enabling single-antenna positioning and attitude determination through advanced MEMS technology. When operating at speeds above 1 km/h, the module achieves a heading accuracy of better than 0.3°, and roll/pitch measurements better than 0.2°. Notably, the accuracy improves as speed increases, ensuring reliable performance in dynamic field conditions.

Designed for easy integration, UM981 supports CAN Bus communication and can be custom-developed to support the ISOBUS Protocol based on user requirements, eliminating the traditional need to switch between data interfaces and protocols in serial port communication. Leveraging CAN Bus technology, the module can process data input, decoding, and calculations from various external sensors, empowering agricultural machinery auto-steering systems.

UM981S for Surveying and Mapping

UM981S is specifically designed to deliver high-accuracy positioning and tilt measurement for surveying and mapping applications. Leveraging GNSS and INS fusion algorithms, the UM981S module enables precise sampling and staking without the conventional need for centering.

UM981S supports rapid and easy initialization of tilt measurement – offering a true walk-and-go feature that eliminates the traditional shake-to-start requirement. Users can simply carry and walk with the measurement pole to initialize the function.

The module delivers 2.5 cm accuracy within a 30° tilt range, supports large-angle measurements up to even 90°, and brief measurements at extreme 120°, thereby facilitating tasks in hard-to-reach areas and complex scenarios such as building corners, under tree canopies, and between high-rise structures, where traditional surveying methods would be impractical or ineffective.
